Two brothers, Subal and Madal, lived in a village in the Sundarbans.
The Sundarbans is in the extreme south of Bengal. It is a place of
rivers, waterways and jungles. Subal and Madal owned a boat. One
day they were sailing down the Matla river. It was early morning. They were going deep into the forest. They were out to collect dry branches for fuel. Subal had never gone into the deep forest before.It was his first time and he was very excited. From Basanti the
river narrowed down. Beyond Basanti the river took the name of Bidya.
I) Where did Subal and Madal live?

সুবল ও মাদল নামে দুই ভাই সুন্দরবনের একটি গ্রামে থাকতেন। বাংলার চরম দক্ষিণে সুন্দরবন। এটি একটি জায়গা নদী, জলপথ এবং জঙ্গল। সুবল ও মাদল একটি নৌকার মালিক। এক যেদিন তারা মাতলা নদীতে নামছিল। ভোর ছিল। তারা গভীর বনে যাচ্ছিল। তারা জ্বালানির জন্য শুকনো ডাল সংগ্রহ করতে বেরিয়েছিল। সুবল এর আগে কখনও গভীর বনে যায়নি। এটি তার প্রথমবার এবং সে খুব উত্তেজিত ছিল। বাসন্তী থেকে নদী সংকুচিত। বাসন্তী পেরিয়ে নদীর নাম বিদ্যা।
